BIOS is the largest existing study seeking to understand the development and course of psychopathology and the related underlying neurobiology, among offspring of parents with bipolar disorder. BIOS recruited over 500 offspring from parents with bipolar disorder and over 350 offspring from community control parents, and has been following these youth. BIOS has been instrumental in informing the field’s understanding of the risks of bipolar disorder and other disorders in this population.
